Johnny Appleseed

Aspyn was eating an apple the other day and found a seed! We had just talked about seeds and their growth cycles and all that jazz so she was pretty pumped about it! Tyler had just walked in at that time from work and she excitably asked Tyler if they could plant the seed to get an apple tree. He didn't know what she was talking about, so he said maybe we could borrow John's apple trees to get apples (our neighbor). She said No! I want to plant this seed to grow in our yard. He finally paid enough attention to her to realize she wanted to plant a tiny tiny seed from a freaking apple. He was like HECK YA!!! Let's go plant it! Oh my....Aspyn blew a head gasket! They ran out and got a shovel and planted that sucker. They even put little cement blocks around it, to make it look pretty. Aspyn was on cloud nine. She still goes out and sees if it is growing after a month of planting it - and still prays for rain so it will water the tree. She talks about how she planted a seed to grow a tree in our back yard to anyone who will listen to her. I told Tyler after they planted it - that little project will give her heart ache later. He said hey! For the 8 minutes of joy it brought her was worth it and now he doesn't' have to break her heart and tell her no when she wants to plant a real apple tree - cause he will remind her the last one didn't grow. He says its only a win-win, cause he doesn't have to have an apple tree and Aspyn grew an apple tree! WHATEVER! I just roll my eyes secretly.
